The Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are proud to welcome the Leonard Patton-Danny Green Quartet in concert. This free performance will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms located at 330 N. Coast Highway. Performance time will be 1:00 p.m. Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking garage.
Leonard Patton, ever the smoky, soulful vocalist plays in and around the lush piano structures created by Danny Green, as the two spin memorable pop standards into a more playful take on jazz. This joining of forces explores the cream of the Hit Parade, reimagining classic pop radio hit songs by the likes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and the Beatles. With Danny Green Trio members Justin Grinnell and Julien Cantelm, the quartet uses the familiar as a springboard into a deep pool of originality and improvisation, adding creative twists and turns while maintaining the heritage of the original songs.
Doors for the concert open at 12:30 p.m. and it is open seating. Other upcoming concerts at the Library include identical twin guitar duo The Bassett Brothers on March 3, 2018, and the rhythms of Latin America and West Africa with SOL e Mar on April 28, 2018. For more information on Library programs and services, please call (760) 435-5600 during regular business hours, or visit www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org.
This free concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
