The City of Oceanside has been identifying urgent needs that must be met to help make our city even better. The cost of public safety is increasing every year and the City needs additional resources to maintain safety and our level of police officers, firefighter/paramedics and lifeguards. Improving local streets, sidewalks and essential infrastructure will also help keep Oceanside safe. Making necessary improvements to our streets and repairing potholes ensures that our streets and sidewalks enhance and complement, rather than detract from our beautiful, natural environment.
Our City’s first priority is protecting the safety of our citizens and maintaining a quality of life we all value in our community. To provide stable, local funding to meet these needs, the City of Oceanside is considering placing a one-half cent sales tax measure for the November 2018 ballot. Potential local funding could:
Should this ballot measure be passed by Oceanside voters, all money raised would remain right here in Oceanside, and could not be taken away by the state. The measure would require independent citizens' oversight and public audits. The sales tax measure would be proposed to last for a duration of 7 years.
